Dayton, Ohio — JJR Solutions is mourning the loss of Bob Mills, minority owner of JJR and a community champion in the Dayton region, who passed away July 13 at age 70.

Mills’ relationship with JJR began at the company’s inception in 2009 when Mills (shown at left) posed the question “What can I do to help you?” to JJR President and CEO David Judson, Jr. (shown at right). “He didn’t have any ownership in JJR; he just wanted to be helpful, and I was literally floored,” recalled Judson. “He provided introductions to legal and financial professionals to help us get the business established and, on many occasions, extended his personal network to help JJR.”

Later becoming a minority owner of the company, Mills never stopped providing guidance, encouragement, and mentorship. “He started as a mentor and quickly became a friend,” noted Judson.

Alongside remembering Mills’ investment in JJR, JJR also appreciates and recognizes Mills’ business and community impact in the Miami Valley. As a successful real estate developer, Mills led an array of building projects for defense and commercial clients in the Dayton region. His greater legacy, however, may be his commitment to cancer fundraising. With his wife, Barbara, he founded the Gala of Hope Foundation in 2014, which has raised millions of dollars to help cancer patients and promote cancer research and awareness in the Miami Valley.

Judson noted, “I watched him, his family, and his team work tirelessly to create something that was needed in our region. When his granddaughter, Ally, was diagnosed with cancer, he went into overdrive to raise money and awareness to fight the disease and support her. He rallied a community to focus on a disease that was literally impacting and touching all of us in one way or another.”

“He was a friend and mentor to so many, tirelessly helping to make life better for us all,” said Judson. “Our prayers are flowing for Barbara and the entire Mills family.”
